There's something about Katherine in the Northern Territory which has attracted more than its share of enthusiastic agricultural entrepreneurs. The sun shines for much of the year and when it doesn't, there's plenty of the wet stuff. So many crops can be grown there at a time when the rest of the country is unable to produce. However freight costs, labour shortages and the fickleness of growing crops in an untried and untested environment have also taken their toll.
